About our bath resealing in Shide

We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint is at its widest, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. Common call-outs are for damp near the bath and silicone coming away from the tiles, in kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and baths.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

Shide: your questions answered

What does bath resealing cost?

Every job gets a fixed price based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your PO30 postcode.

How long before I can shower?

You’ll get the curing time from us.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

How long will it take?

Most reseals take about two hours. It then needs time to cure.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It normally takes about two hours for a bath, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Advice

Prices and what affects them

Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • How much damage there is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Quotes from your pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Most clients in Shide get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

When to call us in Shide

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • A messy previous reseal
  • Damp near the bath
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Gaps in the seal

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • How to look after the finish

Choosing a repair company

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Work for landlords and builders

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Isle of Wight and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Why it’s worth resealing in Shide

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why us?

  • A fixed quote before booking
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • One price list for the entire UK
