When a repair is not the answer

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Bath resealing at your home in Bochrwyd

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. Common call-outs are for black mould in the sealant and water getting behind the bath or tray, in shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks.

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee.

How the visit works

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. You can expect it to take a couple of hours, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

How to get a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Questions from Bochrwyd

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone doesn’t stick to old.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.

Common problems we fix in Bochrwyd

Even good sealant eventually discolours, especially in a busy family bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

10 questions to ask before booking

Prices and what affects them

You will know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How much damage there is

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Bochrwyd. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Any details about the material
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • Details of any past repairs

To get a price, send a couple of photos using our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Air the room after use

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

For landlords and businesses

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Powys and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

For anyone letting property in or around Bochrwyd, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send pictures for each address and we will come back with a combined price.
