Bath resealing in Bolton

Bath resealing in Bolton without replacing anything

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. New silicone will not bond to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. We work on kitchen worktops & sinks, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are an untidy old seal and black mould in the sealant.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Bolton and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

For landlords and businesses

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

If you manage property in Bolton, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we’ll price them together.

Prices and what affects them

There’s no area surcharge for Bolton. What changes the price is:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How much damage there is
  • Access to the area
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

How to get a fixed quote

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • What it’s made of, if you know

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

Bolton: your questions answered

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Normally, yes. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.

Do you come to Bolton?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Bolton from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

What information do you need?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Damp is the cause. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

The process

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which generally takes about two hours for a bath. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

When to call us in Bolton

Poor ventilation speeds things up: damp hangs around, and mould grows faster.

Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • Leaks at the edges
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Missing sealant behind the taps

Comparing quotes

  • Who turns up on the day
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • If travel is included in the price
  • Aftercare advice

Our hiring checklist

Resealing in Bolton: why it matters

Resealing costs very little, and it protects everything around the bath. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What you get with us

  • No extra charge for your area
