Bath resealing in Bourn

Bath resealing at your home in Bourn

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. We regularly repair wet rooms, basins & vanity units and baths, and common reasons people contact us are missing sealant behind the taps and leaks at the edges.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Your questions about bath resealing in Bourn

Do the materials smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.

How long will it take?

Around two hours for a bath, then it needs to cure.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Generally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send photos.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. If pictures don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

What information do you need?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

When to call us in Bourn

In time, even good sealant discolours. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Sealant that is split or lifting
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Old sealant that looks dirty

What to look for in a quote

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • When it can be used again
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • How the room is protected while they work

Resealing in Bourn: why it matters

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Normally one visit, start to finish
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

What happens on the day

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take a couple of hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

How to look after the repair

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Store bottles on a shelf

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

How we price bath resealing

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The material
  • Unusual colours or finishes

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Send pictures for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any details about the material

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

When we’d advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • A flexing bath
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Materials we work on in Bourn

  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
