Bath resealing in Bradford Leigh, done in place

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Fresh joints make the entire room look cleaner, and they protect the walls and floor. Common call-outs are for black mould in the sealant and a messy previous reseal, in kitchen worktops & sinks, wet rooms and basins & vanity units.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why Bradford Leigh customers choose us

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Air the room after use
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

What bath resealing costs

Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • How many areas need work
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material and finish

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed price

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

To get a price, send two or three pictures through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

What we are called out for in Bradford Leigh

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: damp hangs around, and mould grows faster.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • An untidy old seal
  • Gaps by the taps
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Allow around two hours. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We ensure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

For landlords and businesses

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Bradford Leigh use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
