Bath resealing in Breightmet without replacing anything
A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they protect the walls and floor. Our repair technicians work on baths, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures, and common reasons people get in touch are unsealed corners and sealant that’s split or lifting.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are covered after the visit.

When a repair isn’t the answer
A repair isn’t right for every job, including:
- Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
- Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
- A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Surfaces we repair
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Kitchen worktops & sinks
- Basins & vanity units
- Baths
- Wet rooms
What happens on the day
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It normally takes about two hours for a bath, and you can get on with other things while we are there.
- The old silicone is cut out completely.
- We remove the residue and clean the joint.
- Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
- We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
- We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.
Getting ready for the visit
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Make sure the area is dry

DIY repairs versus a professional job
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
Materials and what they mean for the repair

How to look after the repair
Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:
- Ventilate the bathroom well
- Open a window after bathing
- Replace the seal when mould sets in
- Keep bottles off the joints
Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.
Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.
Questions from Breightmet
Why does mould come back so fast?
Usually poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.
Why does the silicone keep cracking?
Movement is the usual cause, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We seal baths full of water.
Can you quote from pictures?
Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.
Do you seal over the old sealant?
We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone doesn’t stick to old.
Can pets and children be at home?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.
Do you work in Breightmet?
Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Breightmet. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.
Do you need bath resealing in Breightmet?
A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould takes hold.
Look out for these signs:
- Missing sealant behind the taps
- Mould you cannot clean out
- Water getting behind the bath or tray
- Silicone coming away from the tiles
Questions to ask before you book
- Who will actually do the work
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
- How soon you can use it again
Is resealing worth it?
Putting new silicone over old does not last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.
