Bath repair across BL3: what to expect
A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the day after. We regularly repair roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel, and common reasons people get in touch are an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and a cracked acrylic bath.
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and clear up. Allow a few hours, depending on the damage. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to care for it.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the day after.
Pricing in BL3
Prices start from £95. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Can I fix it myself?
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
What a repair cannot fix
We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
- A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
Landlords, agents and businesses in BL3
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.
If you manage property in BL3, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we will price them together.
Looking after it afterwards
Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
- Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.
Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.
Common problems we fix in BL3
Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and building work is a common culprit. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- Chips under the taps
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
- Rust by the waste and overflow
- Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
Common questions in BL3
When can I have a bath again?
Generally within a day, depending on the repair.
Can pets and children be at home?
Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.
When can you do it?
Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.
Do I have to be there?
Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.
Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?
Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including pastel and older colours.
Will there be a smell?
There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
In most cases. The old repair comes out first.
