Need bath resealing in British?

Landlords, agents and businesses in British

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Torfaen and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in British use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

Bath resealing in British without replacing anything

A good reseal is all about preparation: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. We regularly repair wet rooms, kitchen worktops & sinks and shower trays & enclosures, and common reasons people contact us are missing sealant behind the taps and mould you can’t clean out.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

How to look after the repair

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally around 24 hours.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

How the visit works

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. You can expect it to take around two hours, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

Advice

What bath resealing costs

We charge the same across the UK, including British. What changes the price is:

  • How much damage there is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Access to the area
  • The type of damage

Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed quote

Phone photos are fine. Make sure they show:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Natural light rather than flash

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos through our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

When to call us in British

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Gaps by the taps
  • Leaks at the edges

Choosing a repair company

When we’d advise against a repair

We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
