Bath resealing for Caversham Heights homes

What a repair cannot fix

We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

How we handle bath resealing in Caversham Heights

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed, with mould-resistant sanitary silicone. Most jobs take a couple of hours, plus curing time. We work on shower trays & enclosures, wet rooms and basins & vanity units, and common reasons people contact us are old sealant that looks dirty and sealant that’s split or lifting.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

What we do, step by step

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a couple of hours. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Advice

What bath resealing costs

There is no area surcharge for Caversham Heights. The price reflects:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How much damage there is
  • The material and finish
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Send photos for a quote

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Common problems we fix in Caversham Heights

In time, even good sealant discolours particularly in a well-used bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all take their toll.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Stained silicone
  • Damp near the bath
  • Gaps by the taps

What to look for in a quote

  • If travel is included in the price
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What protection goes down before work starts

10 questions to ask before you book

Is resealing worth it?

Your questions about bath resealing in Caversham Heights

Do you come to Caversham Heights?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Caversham Heights and the rest of Reading. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

How long does a reseal take?

Typically a couple of hours, then it needs to cure.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Movement is the usual cause. We seal baths full of water.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Different materials, different repairs

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.
