Bath resealing for Challney homes

Bath resealing in Challney without replacing anything

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Fresh joints make the whole room look cleaner, and they keep water out. We regularly repair wet rooms, baths and basins & vanity units, and common reasons people contact us are an untidy old seal and gaps in the seal.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Challney and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

How we price bath resealing

We charge the same across the UK, including Challney. The price reflects:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Getting a price from pictures

Phone photos are fine. Make sure they show:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos using our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

How the visit works

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job usually takes about two hours for a bath. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Getting a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Landlord and trade work in Challney

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why Challney clients choose us

  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • No need to remove anything

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Common questions in Challney

How long does silicone take to cure?

You’ll get the curing time from us, typically around a day.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

What areas do you cover?

All of Luton, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

How long does a reseal take?

A bath or shower normally takes a couple of hours. It then needs time to cure.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

Do you work in Challney?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Challney. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
