Bath resealing in Lewsey

About our bath resealing in Lewsey

A good reseal is all about preparation: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Then the fresh sealant goes on, in a neat, continuous bead. We regularly repair baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and shower trays & enclosures, and people most frequently call us about stained silicone and gaps in the seal.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Luton and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Repairs by material

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Resealing in Lewsey: why it matters

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Why book with us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Fixed prices from your photos

Read our pricing.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

How to care for the repair

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Keep the joints dry
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Avoid scraping the joints, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

The process

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes around two hours, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Advice

Honest limits

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Prices and what affects them

You will know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • Access to the area
  • The material and finish
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Lewsey. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A picture taken from further back

For a price in Lewsey, the easiest route is pictures: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.
