What bath resealing costs

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • Access to the area
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Any details about the material
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures through our quote form or ring us. We’ll say straight away whether it can be repaired.

Bath resealing in Chapels, done in place

We cut out all of the old sealant, deal with any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. Common call-outs are for an untidy old seal and water getting behind the bath or tray, in wet rooms, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are covered after the visit.

Work for landlords and builders

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Chapels as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Honest limits

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Hidden water damage
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a couple of hours. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Related advice

When to call us in Chapels

Even good sealant eventually discolours, especially in a busy family bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Unsealed corners
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray

Before booking anyone

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

Why it’s worth resealing in Chapels

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is and protects the walls and floor. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why book with us

Chapels: your questions answered

All of Cumbria, and the rest of the UK. There is no extra charge for travel.

Never over old. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

What does bath resealing cost?

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.
