Bath resealing for Chitty homes

Bath resealing at your home in Chitty

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. Whether it’s silicone smeared on tiles and unsealed corners, we can help, on kitchen worktops & sinks, wet rooms and baths alike.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Chitty questions

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Usually, yes. The old repair comes out first.

What do you need from me?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

Typically after around 24 hours. We confirm before we leave.

What happens after I send photos?

You will get a fixed quote back, normally with dates to choose from. There’s no obligation to book.

How much does bath resealing cost in Chitty?

Because every job differs, we price from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

What we can’t put right

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Do you need bath resealing in Chitty?

Joints split if the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed while the bath was empty.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Black spots in the silicone
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles

Our hiring checklist

Landlord and trade work in Chitty

For anyone letting property in or around Chitty, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

How the visit works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a couple of hours. If anything looks different from your photos, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
