Do you need bath resealing in Churchover?

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed while the bath was empty.

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles

Choosing a repair company

Bath resealing at your home in Churchover

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint opens fully, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. Our technicians work on shower trays & enclosures, baths and basins & vanity units, and people most often call us about leaks at the edges and unsealed corners.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Questions from Churchover

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mould needs moisture. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

What happens next?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

How long before I can shower?

We’ll give you the curing time.

Different materials, different repairs

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

How it works

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take a couple of hours. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

Advice

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What a repair can’t fix

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • Hidden water damage
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

How to look after the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers

Good ventilation is the best protection, and dry the joints after bathing to keep mould away.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

What affects the price in Churchover

Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What the surface is made of
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The type of damage

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your pictures

Phone pictures are fine, there is no need for anything special. Make sure they show:

  • The material, if you know it
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Where you are, by postcode

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
