For landlords and businesses

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Combe: your questions answered

What areas do you cover?

The entire UK, including all of Somerset. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll offer you dates.

Do you cover Combe?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Combe and the rest of Somerset. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. If pictures don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Can new silicone go over old?

Never over old. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

How the visit works

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It normally takes a couple of hours, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

How to prepare

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Honest limits

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms

Why reseal now?

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How we price bath resealing

We don’t charge extra for travel to Combe. The price comes down to:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Access to the area
  • What the surface is made of
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Getting a price from pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower

If you’re in Combe and want a price, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.
