Bath resealing for Cordon homes

Bath resealing in Cordon without replacing anything

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Our repair technicians work on wet rooms, kitchen worktops & sinks and shower trays & enclosures, and people most frequently call us about black spots in the silicone and discoloured, yellow sealant.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

What we do, step by step

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes about two hours for a bath, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Open a window if you can

Questions from Cordon

Do you cover Cordon?

Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to Cordon from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

How long does a reseal take?

Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.

Which areas do you work in?

Everywhere in the UK, Cordon included. Travel is included in the price.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

Never over old. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working.

How do I book?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Generally poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

What affects the price in Cordon

Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • What the surface is made of
  • The colour and finish to match
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from photos

You can take the photos on your phone. Just make sure we can see:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Landlord and trade work in Cordon

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Cordon as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

When a repair is not the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Movement in the bath or tray

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths

How to look after the repair

To keep it looking its best:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Why it’s worth resealing in Cordon

Resealing costs very little and protects the walls and floor. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access.
