Bath resealing near Cradoc

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take around two hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We ensure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Advice

Bath resealing in Cradoc, done in place

A good reseal is all about preparation: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Then the fresh sealant goes on, in a neat, continuous bead. If you’re dealing with old sealant that looks dirty and mould you can’t clean out, we can help, on wet rooms, kitchen worktops & sinks and shower trays & enclosures alike.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Landlord and trade work in Cradoc

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Do you need bath resealing in Cradoc?

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

Most people contact us after spotting something like this:

  • An untidy old seal
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Sealant that’s split or lifting

What your quote should include

  • When it can be used again
  • What preparation is included
  • Aftercare advice
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

10 questions to ask before you book

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Cradoc: your questions answered

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

No, we never seal over old silicone. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

How long will it take?

Most reseals take about two hours. Leave it to cure before use.

How long before I can shower?

We will give you the curing time.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Cradoc included. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Can you quote from photos?

In nearly every case. If pictures don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

What bath resealing costs

We do not charge extra for travel to Cradoc. The price comes down to:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Access to the area
  • How many areas need work
  • The material

Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Send photos for a quote

You can usually get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Where you are, by postcode

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

How to look after the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Ventilate the bathroom well

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.
