Bath resealing at your home in Crookedholm

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest, so the seal does not tear when the bath is first used. If you’re dealing with silicone smeared on tiles and black mould in the sealant, we can usually put it right, on wet rooms, baths and shower trays & enclosures alike.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Questions from Crookedholm

What information do you need?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Do you cover the entire of East Ayrshire?

We work UK-wide, so Crookedholm is covered. Prices do not change with location.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Air the room after use
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally around 24 hours.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

What happens on the day

The work is clean and fairly quiet. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a couple of hours. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

How to get a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.

Common problems we fix in Crookedholm

No sealant lasts for ever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould feeds on, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Sealant that’s split or lifting
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Leaks at the edges
  • Missing sealant behind the taps

What to look for in a quote

  • When it can be used again
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

How to compare quotes

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Why it’s worth resealing in Crookedholm

Resealing costs very little and protects the walls and floor. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.
