Common questions in Crookhall

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there is more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Can you quote from pictures?

Generally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

No, we never seal over old silicone. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

What does bath resealing cost?

Because every job differs, we price from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before you book.

How do I book?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Generally poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

Do you work in Crookhall?

We do. We send a technician to Crookhall for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

How we handle bath resealing in Crookhall

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Typical jobs include old sealant that looks dirty and gaps in the seal, across basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and shower trays & enclosures.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Crookhall as everywhere else we work.

Repairs by material

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Good ventilation is the best protection, and dry the joints after bathing so mould struggles to take hold.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

What bath resealing costs

Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What the surface is made of

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

How to get a fixed quote

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A picture taken from further back
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

When to call us in Crookhall

No sealant lasts for ever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould feeds on, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Gaps by the taps
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Gaps in the seal

What to look for in a quote

  • If travel is included in the price
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

How to compare quotes

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing costs very little and protects the walls and floor. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

What you get with us

  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

See our prices page.

The process

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take a couple of hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
