Bath Resealing for Dimmer homes
Bath resealing across Dimmer and nearby, done in a single visit in most cases.
- Damp near the bath
- Discoloured, yellow sealant
- Black mould in the sealant

Bath resealing at your home in Dimmer
A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Whether it’s sealant that’s split or lifting and discoloured, yellow sealant, we can typically put it right, on basins & vanity units, wet rooms and baths alike.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we will sort it.

Dimmer: your questions answered
Are there extra charges for Dimmer?
No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.
Will it make a mess?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.
How long does resealing take?
Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.
What areas do you cover?
We work UK-wide, so Dimmer is covered. Prices don’t change with location.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.
Is a repair better than a new one?
In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.
How soon can you come?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Is resealing worth it?
Resealing costs very little. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip.
The process
We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes about two hours for a bath. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.
- We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
- We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
- We clean, treat and dry the joint.
- Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
- The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Let the surface dry out before the visit

When to call us in Dimmer
Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed while the bath was empty.
People normally call us when they notice something like this:
- Black spots in the silicone
- Gaps in the seal
- Stained silicone
- Gaps by the taps
What your quote should include
- A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
- What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
- How long it needs to cure
- Who turns up on the day
How we price bath resealing
Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. The main factors are:
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- How easy the damage is to reach
A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
Getting a price from photos
The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- A photo taken from further back
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Any details about the material
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.
When a repair isn’t the answer
We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
- Very wide gaps that need a trim
- A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
What we work on
- Basins & vanity units
- Wet rooms
- Baths
- Kitchen worktops & sinks
- Shower trays & enclosures
Aftercare tips
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Air the room after use
- Keep bottles off the joints
- Use the extractor fan
- Clean the sealant gently and regularly
Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.
If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.
Can I fix it myself?
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
