Common problems we fix in Dingestow

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Unsealed corners
  • Leaks at the edges
  • An untidy old seal
  • Mould you cannot clean out

10 questions to ask before you book

When a repair isn’t the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • A flexing bath

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Dingestow

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will arrange it.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Monmouthshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Dingestow questions

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Normally, yes. The old repair comes out first.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Generally poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

When can you do it?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

How it works

We turn up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes around two hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

How to get a price

Send us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your NP25 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

DIY kit or professional repair?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Keep the joints dry
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, usually around 24 hours.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

Why reseal now?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
