Bath resealing in Doleham

Bath resealing in Doleham without replacing anything

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed, with mould-resistant sanitary silicone. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours. We work on baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are silicone smeared on tiles and leaks at the edges.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Avoid scraping the joints, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Can I fix it myself?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

The process

Arrival times are agreed in advance. Once we are there, the work takes around two hours for most jobs. We leave the room clean and you will know when it can be used.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

How to prepare

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

How to compare quotes

Doleham: your questions answered

How long does resealing take?

A bath or shower typically takes a couple of hours. Leave it to cure before use.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Damp is the cause. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

Never over old. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Do you cover Doleham?

Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to Doleham from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Is there any odour?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It fades as everything cures.

Resealing in Doleham: why it matters

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How we price bath resealing

You will know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed quote

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • The material, if you know it

Send us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your TN35 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.
