What a repair cannot fix

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Bath resealing in Broadland Row without replacing anything

We reseal baths, shower trays, basins and worktops. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours, then it needs to cure. We are frequently asked to fix missing sealant behind the taps and black spots in the silicone, on wet rooms, kitchen worktops & sinks and baths.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

When to call us in Broadland Row

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:

  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles

10 questions to ask before booking

What happens on the day

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a couple of hours. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Before we arrive

Advice

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Why us?

  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Work done at your home or business
  • No need to remove anything

Questions from Broadland Row

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

How long does a reseal take?

Normally a couple of hours, plus curing time.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

Normally about a day later. We will tell you the exact time.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You’ll get a fixed quote back. You’re under no obligation.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work. It fades as everything cures.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Prices and what affects them

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • The material, if you know it
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Something in shot to show the size

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best:

  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, usually around 24 hours.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.
