Bath resealing in Donnington

How to look after the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Keep the room well ventilated, and dry the joints after bathing to keep mould away.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Bath resealing at your home in Donnington

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. We work on baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms, and people most often call us about missing sealant behind the taps and leaks at the edges.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Prices and what affects them

We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • The material and finish
  • How many areas need work
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Send pictures for a quote

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Any details about the material
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Details of any past repairs
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It normally takes about two hours for a bath, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Advice

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

What a repair cannot fix

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Why it’s worth resealing in Donnington

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You will see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

Signs you need bath resealing in Donnington

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • A messy previous reseal
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Stained silicone
  • Unsealed corners

What your quote should include

  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • What preparation is included
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Whether the price covers travel

How to compare quotes

Donnington questions

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

What happens next?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Can new silicone go over old?

We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone doesn’t stick to old.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

How long will it take?

Most reseals take about two hours. It then needs time to cure.
