About our bath resealing in Trench

Preparation is everything in a reseal: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Only then does the new sealant go on, as one neat, continuous bead. We are often asked to fix gaps in the seal and gaps by the taps, in wet rooms, kitchen worktops & sinks and baths.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Trench as everywhere else we work.

What a repair can’t fix

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Hidden water damage
  • A flexing bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths

What affects the price in Trench

We do not charge extra for travel to Trench. The price comes down to:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material and finish
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed quote

Two or three clear pictures are typically enough. Try to include:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any details about the material
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Where you are, by postcode

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

How it works

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the work takes about two hours for a bath. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Open a window if you can

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Why reseal now?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple:

  • Air the room after use
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, typically around 24 hours.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

Common questions in Trench

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

How long does resealing take?

A bath or shower typically takes a couple of hours. It then needs time to cure.

Can new silicone go over old?

All the old sealant comes out. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.

What happens after I send photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Can you quote from pictures?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Are there extra charges for Trench?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.
