Need bath resealing in Down Field?

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Down Field use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

How we handle bath resealing in Down Field

All of the old sealant is cut out, treat any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. We’re frequently asked to fix old sealant that looks dirty and silicone coming away from the tiles, in wet rooms, baths and basins & vanity units.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

What we are called out for in Down Field

No sealant lasts for ever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould loves, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Unsealed corners
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant

Down Field questions

How long does a reseal take?

Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

Never over old. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Typically poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

What do you need from me?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

How the visit works

We agree an arrival time beforehand. On site, it takes about two hours for a bath in most cases. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

What bath resealing costs

A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Access to the area
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material and finish

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Getting a price from pictures

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Natural light rather than flash

To get a price, send two or three photos through our quote form or ring us. We’ll say straight away if a repair is the right fix.

What a repair cannot fix

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • A flexing bath
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Why it’s worth resealing in Down Field

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is, and it protects everything around the bath. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Down Field. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Air the room after use

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, generally around 24 hours.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.
