Bath resealing near Dungeness

How we handle bath resealing in Dungeness

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. Our technicians work on basins & vanity units, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures, and the jobs we see most are leaks at the edges and gaps by the taps.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Why it’s worth resealing in Dungeness

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

What you get with us

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

What we are called out for in Dungeness

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning only removes the surface.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Old sealant that looks dirty

Comparing quotes

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • How soon you can use it again
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

Choosing a repair company

Prices and what affects them

We charge the same across the UK, including Dungeness. The price reflects:

  • How many areas need work
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Access to the area
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

Getting a price from pictures

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower

If you’re in Dungeness and want a price, the easiest route is pictures: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

What happens on the day

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to around two hours.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Related advice

When a repair is not the answer

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Hidden water damage
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
