Bath resealing near Ebblake

Bath resealing in Ebblake without replacing anything

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. New silicone will not bond to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. If you are dealing with gaps in the seal and a messy previous reseal, we can generally put it right, on shower trays & enclosures, wet rooms and basins & vanity units alike.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Ebblake as everywhere else we work.

Resealing in Ebblake: why it matters

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • Work done at your home or business
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • One visit for most repairs

What bath resealing costs

You will know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The material
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed quote

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • The material, if you know it
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Natural light rather than flash

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job.

FAQs for Ebblake

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

How long will it take?

A bath or shower normally takes a couple of hours. Leave it to cure before use.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

What we’re called out for in Ebblake

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning only removes the surface.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Missing sealant behind the taps

What to look for in a quote

  • What preparation is included
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

10 questions to ask before booking

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Work for landlords and builders

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

How the visit works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we are doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. Allow about two hours for a bath, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Let steam out after showers

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.
