Bath resealing in Elland

Bath resealing at your home in Elland

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they protect the walls and floor. Our technicians work on shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & sinks and basins & vanity units, and common reasons people contact us are silicone coming away from the tiles and damp near the bath.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Common questions in Elland

How much does bath resealing cost in Elland?

Because every job differs, we price from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before you book.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

Never over old. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Do you cover the entire of Calderdale?

We work UK-wide, so Elland is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we often do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Damp is the cause. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It normally takes around two hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Related advice

What bath resealing costs

Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • The material and finish
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The colour and finish to match

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from pictures

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Why it’s worth resealing in Elland

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why book with us

  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Usually one visit, start to finish

Read our pricing.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

For landlords and businesses

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

What we’re called out for in Elland

Sealant doesn’t last forever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould loves, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • An untidy old seal
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Black spots in the silicone
