About our bath resealing in Elvet

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, as one neat, continuous bead. We work on wet rooms, kitchen worktops & sinks and baths, and people most often call us about stained silicone and silicone coming away from the tiles.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

How to care for the repair

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off

Keep the room well ventilated, and dry the joints after bathing to keep mould away.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

How the visit works

Once we are through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a couple of hours, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Ensure the area is dry

When to call us in Elvet

  • Discoloured, yellow sealant

Resealing in Elvet: why it matters

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What a repair can’t fix

  • Hidden water damage
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Movement in the bath or tray

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

  • Basins & vanity units

What affects the price in Elvet

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Access to the area
  • How many areas need work
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether we combine several jobs

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • Any details about the material
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed price without visiting.
