Prices and what affects them

You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed price

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Email us photos of the damage and one of the entire item, with your HD8 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

How we handle bath resealing in Fenay Bridge

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. New silicone won’t bond to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. Typical jobs include silicone smeared on tiles and mould you can’t clean out, on kitchen worktops & sinks, baths and shower trays & enclosures.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It fades as everything cures.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

What a repair cannot fix

We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Movement in the bath or tray

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths

The process

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to around two hours, tidy-up included.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Make sure the area is dry

Advice

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Air the room after use
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

For anyone letting property in or around Fenay Bridge, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Why it’s worth resealing in Fenay Bridge

Resealing costs very little. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
