Bath resealing in Flimwell without replacing anything

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed. Most jobs take a couple of hours, plus curing time. We are frequently asked to fix black spots in the silicone and missing sealant behind the taps, on basins & vanity units, baths and wet rooms.

What bath resealing costs

Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What the surface is made of
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Getting a price from photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A picture taken from further back

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Work for landlords and builders

If you manage property in Flimwell, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Flimwell as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Your questions about bath resealing in Flimwell

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

What happens if you find more damage?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Do you cover the whole of East Sussex?

The whole UK, including all of East Sussex. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will confirm dates.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Generally because the bath or tray moves. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

All the old sealant comes out. Fresh silicone doesn’t stick to old.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

What happens on the day

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you’re not left guessing. Once we’re there, the work takes around two hours in most cases. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

How to get a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Advice

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Open a window after bathing

Avoid scraping the joints, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why Flimwell clients choose us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted

  • Straight answers about what a repair can do

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
