Bath resealing in Fordyce

Bath resealing in Fordyce, done in place

We cut out all of the old sealant, treat any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. If you are dealing with black mould in the sealant and silicone smeared on tiles, we can usually put it right, whatever the material.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Fordyce as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.

Questions from Fordyce

Can pets and children be at home?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

How long will it take?

Normally a couple of hours, then it needs to cure.

What happens next?

We come back with a fixed quote, plus dates. You’re under no obligation.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a couple of hours. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

When we’d advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

How to care for the repair

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Air the room after use
  • Keep the joints dry

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.
