Is resealing worth it?
Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

For anyone letting property in or around Foxhole, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will come back with a combined price.
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

What else we do in Foxhole
What we do, step by step
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Plan for a couple of hours from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.
- All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
- We clean the joint and treat any mould.
- The joint is dried thoroughly.
- Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
- New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Ensure the room can be ventilated
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
Ask for a price
No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Looking after it afterwards
To keep it looking its best:
- Keep bottles off the joints
- Run the extractor fan during and after showers
- Let steam out after showers
- Reseal when black spots will not clean off
Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.
Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.
Do you need bath resealing in Foxhole?
Sealant doesn’t last forever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould feeds on, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.
The most common problems we’re called about are:
- A messy previous reseal
- Gaps by the taps
- Discoloured, yellow sealant
- Damp near the bath
What to look for in a quote
- Whether the price covers travel
- What preparation is included
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
- How soon you can use it again
Should I try a DIY kit first?
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Shower trays
Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.
Baths
Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.
When we would advise against a repair
We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:
- Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
- Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
- A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.
Materials we repair
- Kitchen worktops & sinks
- Basins & vanity units
- Baths
- Wet rooms
- Shower trays & enclosures
