What affects the price in Frenchmoor

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material
  • How hard the colour is to match

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from pictures

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any details about the material
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

For a price in Frenchmoor, the easiest route is photos: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

About our bath resealing in Frenchmoor

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Only then does the new sealant go on, as one neat, continuous bead. Typical jobs include stained silicone and damp near the bath, in kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Repairs by material

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take a couple of hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, generally around 24 hours.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What we’re called out for in Frenchmoor

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Silicone smeared on tiles

Questions to ask before you book

  • How long it needs to cure
  • If travel is included in the price
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

FAQs for Frenchmoor

Are there extra charges for Frenchmoor?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

How long will it take?

Normally a couple of hours, then it needs to cure.

What information do you need?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Do you come to Frenchmoor?

We do. We send a technician to Frenchmoor for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

Normally about a day later. We will tell you the exact time.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
