Bath resealing in Great Amwell, done in place

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Fresh joints make the entire room look cleaner, and they keep water out. Whether it’s missing sealant behind the taps and water getting behind the bath or tray, we can help, on kitchen worktops & sinks, wet rooms and baths alike.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Great Amwell. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

What bath resealing costs

Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material and finish
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. It normally takes around two hours, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Getting a price

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Related advice

Common problems we fix in Great Amwell

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

People generally call us after spotting one of these:

  • Leaks at the edges
  • An untidy old seal
  • Stained silicone
  • Mould you can’t clean out

Choosing a repair company

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Let steam out after showers
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

What a repair can’t fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Hidden water damage

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.
