Need bath resealing in Greenfields?

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

Bath resealing in Greenfields, done in place

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and a new seal stops it. We regularly repair wet rooms, basins & vanity units and baths, and people most frequently call us about silicone coming away from the tiles and old sealant that looks dirty.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we will sort it.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Avoid scraping the joints, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

What happens on the day

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a couple of hours, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, including around the taps.

How to prepare

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Your questions about bath resealing in Greenfields

When can I use the bath after resealing?

We’ll give you the curing time, normally around a day.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we’ll quote them together.

What does bath resealing cost?

We give a fixed price based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

How long does a reseal take?

Most reseals take about two hours. Leave it to cure before use.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

What do you need from me?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Why it’s worth resealing in Greenfields

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
