Need bath resealing in Harlequin?

The process

We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we’re there, the work takes around two hours for most jobs. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

How to prepare

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Getting a price

We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Advice

Bath resealing at your home in Harlequin

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint opens fully, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. We work on wet rooms, kitchen worktops & sinks and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are old sealant that looks dirty and leaks at the edges.

Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Why reseal now?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. Compared with replacing, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Common problems we fix in Harlequin

Poor ventilation speeds things up: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould takes hold.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Unsealed corners
  • Damp near the bath
  • Mould you cannot clean out
  • Gaps in the seal

What to look for in a quote

  • What preparation is included
  • How the colour is matched
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How your room will be protected

Choosing a repair company

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal

Good ventilation is the best protection, and dry the joints after bathing.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Common questions in Harlequin

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

How long does a reseal take?

Usually a couple of hours, plus curing time.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Movement is the usual cause. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Do you work in Harlequin?

We do. Technicians travel to Harlequin from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Nottinghamshire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

What a repair cannot fix

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Hollow or loose tiles

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.
