Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Bath resealing at your home in Hasguard

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. If you’re dealing with leaks at the edges and missing sealant behind the taps, we can typically put it right, on basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms alike.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Hasguard and across Pembrokeshire.

What we do, step by step

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It usually takes around two hours, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Advice

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

What we are called out for in Hasguard

No sealant lasts for ever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould feeds on, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Sealant that is split or lifting
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • An untidy old seal

10 questions to ask before you book

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Prices and what affects them

Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • The type of damage
  • How many areas need work
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed quote

Phone photos are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Any details about the material

For a price in Hasguard, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Hasguard: your questions answered

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Do you cover the whole of Pembrokeshire?

The entire UK, including all of Pembrokeshire. Just include your postcode and we will confirm dates.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

What does bath resealing cost?

Every job gets a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the entire item with your SA62 postcode.

What we can’t put right

We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.
