Bath resealing for Havering's Grove homes

About our bath resealing in Havering's Grove

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. Our repair technicians work on kitchen worktops & sinks, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are old sealant that looks dirty and a messy previous reseal.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

What we do, step by step

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes around two hours. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Advice

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

What affects the price in Havering's Grove

We don’t charge extra for travel to Havering's Grove. The price depends on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Getting a price from pictures

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any details about the material
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Avoid scraping the joints, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Landlord and trade work in Havering's Grove

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

If you manage property in Havering's Grove, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will price them together.

When we would advise against a repair

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Common problems we fix in Havering's Grove

Poor ventilation speeds things up: damp hangs around, and mould grows faster.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Unsealed corners
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Damp near the bath
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant

Questions to ask before booking

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • How long it needs to cure
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

Questions from Havering's Grove

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

How long will it take?

Around two hours for a bath, then it needs to cure.

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

How soon can you come?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
