About our bath resealing in Healey

We cut out all of the old sealant, treat any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. Our repair technicians work on basins & vanity units, baths and kitchen worktops & sinks, and the jobs we see most are a messy previous reseal and missing sealant behind the taps.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

FAQs for Healey

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Usually poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Do you cover the whole of Kirklees?

We work UK-wide, so Healey is covered. Prices don’t change with location.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Generally because the bath or tray moves. We seal baths full of water.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

How it works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. Allow about two hours for a bath, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

How to look after the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Air the room after use
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally around 24 hours.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Healey use us as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

For anyone letting property in or around Healey, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we’ll price them together.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing costs very little, and it protects everything around the bath. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

What bath resealing costs

There’s no charge for travel to Healey. The price comes down to:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How many areas need work
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Unusual colours or finishes

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Getting a price from pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Any details about the material

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.
