Need bath resealing in Heaton?

Why it’s worth resealing in Heaton

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Why book with us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures

Bath resealing in Heaton, done in place

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they protect the walls and floor. We work on shower trays & enclosures, wet rooms and kitchen worktops & sinks, and the jobs we see most are water getting behind the bath or tray and an untidy old seal.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Heaton, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we’ll price them together.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Do you need bath resealing in Heaton?

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould grows faster.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • A messy previous reseal
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Leaks at the edges

What to look for in a quote

  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Aftercare advice

Our hiring checklist

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple:

  • Keep the joints dry
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Use the extractor fan

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, generally around 24 hours.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

How we price bath resealing

We give every job a fixed price from photos. This is what makes a difference:

  • How much damage there is
  • The material
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

For a price in Heaton, the easiest route is photos: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

The process

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. You can expect it to take around two hours.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Getting a price

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Heaton: your questions answered

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we’ll plan for it.

What does bath resealing cost?

The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before you book.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

All the old sealant comes out. Fresh silicone doesn’t stick to old.

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we are working, which fades afterwards.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Normally poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.
