Bath resealing for Hemley homes

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use to keep mould away.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Bath resealing in Hemley, done in place

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and resealing puts a stop to that. Our technicians work on kitchen worktops & sinks, shower trays & enclosures and baths, and common reasons people contact us are gaps by the taps and an untidy old seal.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Hemley use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

How it works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a couple of hours. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

How to get a price

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath or shower, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

FAQs for Hemley

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Do you charge for travel?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

How long does silicone take to cure?

Normally about a day later. We confirm before we leave.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Movement is the usual cause. We seal baths full of water.

What happens after I send pictures?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote with dates.

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why us?

  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

What we are called out for in Hemley

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Mould you cannot clean out
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • An untidy old seal

How to compare quotes

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Prices and what affects them

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Quotes from your pictures

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any details about the material
  • Natural light rather than flash

Upload photos of the damage and one of the whole item, with your IP12 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
