Bath resealing in Highfields

About our bath resealing in Highfields

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours, then it needs to cure. Our technicians work on basins & vanity units, baths and shower trays & enclosures, and the jobs we see most are sealant that’s split or lifting and discoloured, yellow sealant.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Highfields and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Why reseal now?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

What you get with us

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • No extra charge for your area
  • A fixed quote before booking

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

For landlords and businesses

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Signs you need bath resealing in Highfields

Poor ventilation speeds things up: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould takes hold.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Stained silicone
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • A messy previous reseal

How to compare quotes

Highfields questions

Do you seal over the old sealant?

Never over old. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

What areas do you cover?

We cover the whole UK, including Highfields and the rest of Doncaster. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll offer you dates.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Normally because the bath or tray moves. We fill the bath before sealing it.

What a repair can’t fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms

How the visit works

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take about two hours for a bath. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

How to get a price

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

How to care for the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Air the room after use

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.
