How we handle bath resealing in Little Canada

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed using mould-resistant silicone. Most jobs take a couple of hours, then it needs to cure. We regularly repair shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks, and the jobs we see most are a messy previous reseal and leaks at the edges.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Little Canada and across Doncaster.

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Common problems we fix in Little Canada

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

Clients typically contact us about:

  • Stained silicone
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Gaps by the taps

Little Canada: your questions answered

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Do you work in Little Canada?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Little Canada and the rest of Doncaster. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How quickly can you book me in?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

How long before I can shower?

Normally after around 24 hours. We’ll tell you the exact time.

How long will it take?

Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.

How to look after the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Hollow or loose tiles

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

How the visit works

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take around two hours. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Prices and what affects them

You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • How many areas need work
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Getting a price from photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

Resealing in Little Canada: why it matters

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.
