Bath resealing for Hill Mountain homes

Bath resealing in Hill Mountain without replacing anything

We cut out all of the old sealant, treat any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. Common call-outs are for a messy previous reseal and mould you can’t clean out, in basins & vanity units, wet rooms and kitchen worktops & sinks.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

How the visit works

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes around two hours, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

How we price bath resealing

You will know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • The material
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The type of damage

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

You can take the pictures on your phone. Ensure they show:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower

We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Common problems we fix in Hill Mountain

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould grows faster.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Gaps in the seal
  • Stained silicone
  • Leaks at the edges
  • An untidy old seal

Choosing a repair company

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why book with us

  • A fixed quote before booking
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • No need to remove anything

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

When we’d advise against a repair

A repair is not right for every job, for example:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Hidden water damage

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.
