The process
The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the work takes a full day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.
- First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
- We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
- We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the day after.
How to prepare
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
Ask for a price
You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.
Advice
Bath re-enamelling in Hill Mountain without replacing anything
We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, so we do not cut corners on it. Common call-outs are for a coloured bath you want in white and thin, worn enamel in places, on acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are covered after the visit.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Hill Mountain
Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- Thin, worn enamel in places
- Lots of chips and rust spots
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough

Different materials, different repairs
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.
Repair or replace in Hill Mountain?
Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the entire room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Why book with us
- Nothing taken out or refitted
- CHAS and Constructionline accredited
- We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
- No extra charge for your area

Keeping it looking good
Nothing complicated is needed:
- Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
- Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
- Store bottles off the bath
Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.
Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
Can I fix it myself?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
