Your questions about bath resealing in Hillend
What happens after I send photos?
We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.
What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?
If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.
Why does my sealant keep splitting?
Normally because the bath or tray moves. We seal baths full of water.
How long does silicone take to cure?
Normally about a day later. We confirm before we leave.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
Do you come to Hillend?
Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Hillend. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
Why does mould come back so fast?
Generally poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.
Is there any odour?
It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.
Bath resealing in Hillend, done in place
A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Fresh joints make the whole room look cleaner, and they keep water out. We regularly repair shower trays & enclosures, wet rooms and baths, and the jobs we see most are an untidy old seal and silicone coming away from the tiles.
Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee.

What else we do in Hillend
How it works
Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you are not left guessing. On site, it takes around two hours in most cases. We leave the room clean.
- The old silicone is cut out completely.
- Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
- Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
- The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
- We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.
Getting ready for the visit
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Let us know about parking or access
Ask for a price
You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Work for landlords and builders
Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we’ll arrange it.

What bath resealing costs
There is no area surcharge for Hillend. The price reflects:
- Whether we combine several jobs
- How easy the damage is to reach
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- The material and finish
Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.
Getting a price from pictures
You can take the pictures on your phone, there is no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:
- What it’s made of, if you know
- Natural light rather than flash
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- One sharp close-up of the damage
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.
Common problems we fix in Hillend
Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning cannot get it all out.
Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:
- Discoloured, yellow sealant
- A messy previous reseal
- Black spots in the silicone
- Missing sealant behind the taps
What to look for in a quote
- When it can be used again
- Whether the colour is mixed to match
- Who turns up on the day
- How changes to the job are handled
Different materials, different repairs
Baths
Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.
Sinks and worktops
We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.
When a repair is not the answer
Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:
- Hollow or loose tiles
- Very wide gaps that need a trim
- Hidden water damage
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.
Materials we repair
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Basins & vanity units
- Baths
- Kitchen worktops & sinks
- Wet rooms
Can I fix it myself?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
Keeping it looking good
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Use the extractor fan
- Keep bottles off the joints
- Clean the sealant gently and regularly
- Reseal when black spots will not clean off
Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.
Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.
