Need bath resealing in Holme?

Bath resealing in Holme, done in place

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Only then does the new sealant go on, as one neat, continuous bead. We regularly repair baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are silicone smeared on tiles and mould you can’t clean out.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Holme and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Repairs by material

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

What we’re called out for in Holme

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, frequently because it was sealed with the bath empty.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Leaks at the edges
  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Missing sealant behind the taps

Before you book anyone

  • How long it needs to cure
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • How the colour is matched

FAQs for Holme

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we will quote them together.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Movement is the usual cause. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

Never over old. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

Normally about a day later. We will tell you the exact time.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

How we price bath resealing

There is no area surcharge for Holme. The price reflects:

  • How much damage there is
  • Access to the area
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How hard the colour is to match

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Where you are, by postcode

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Air the room after use

Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Landlord and trade work in Holme

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Why reseal now?

Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s a quick job that protects your walls and floors. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for about two hours for a bath. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

How to prepare

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
