Bath resealing for Honley homes

Bath resealing in Honley without replacing anything

A good reseal is all about preparation: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. Whether it’s gaps by the taps and black spots in the silicone, we can usually put it right, whatever the material.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

Questions from Honley

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

What does bath resealing cost?

Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.

What areas do you cover?

We cover the whole UK, including Honley and the rest of Kirklees. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll confirm dates.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Damp is the cause. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work. It clears as the materials cure.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

The process

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. You can expect it to take a couple of hours, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

How to care for the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Prices and what affects them

We give every job a fixed price from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The size and number of damaged areas

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed price

Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos using our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Resealing in Honley: why it matters

Resealing costs very little, and it protects everything around the bath. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before booking.

Honest limits

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • A flexing bath
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Signs you need bath resealing in Honley

In time, even good sealant discolours particularly in a well-used bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • An untidy old seal
  • Damp near the bath

What your quote should include

  • What prep work is covered
  • When it can be used again
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
